When we were asked to speak at a Conscious Capitalism event on Tuesday, June 25 – we jumped at the opportunity. Krista Kuhlman, Experiential Marketing Manager, and Scott Ruprecht, Founder of Giveback Sports, gave a 10-minute TED-style talk about the power of investing in the community: the story of East Oakland and Coliseum College Prep. Our team was visiting Napa and Sonoma this past February to work on creating new experience packages for fundraising events, while also researching a school in East Oakland where 10 sports were cut due to hard times. We purchased 46 uniforms each for both the girls and boys middle school soccer teams who had been wearing the same tattered uniforms for 5+ years and could not afford new ones. Profit + Purpose.
Conscious Capitalism’s credo is a way of thinking about capitalism and business that better reflects where we are in the human journey, the state of our world today, and the innate potential of business to make a positive impact on the world. Conscious businesses are galvanized by higher purposes that serve, align, and integrate the interests of all their major stakeholders.
We were grateful to be involved and tell our story.
