You will also find an incredible mix of natural wonders including gushing waterfalls, sprouting geysers, natural hot springs, immense glaciers, endless green meadows and during the right time of year, some of the most incredible views of the Northern Lights. This is a landscape like no other-unspoiled nature is powerful, present and alive.
The capital Reykjavik is home to the majority of the country’s population and among the cleanest, greenest and safest cities of the world. The city is vibrant, quirky, and buzzing with activity, offering plenty of restaurants, museums, shops and cafes. This is absolutely one of the most unique and unforgettable destinations in the world.
Accommodations
Your party of 4 will stay for 5 nights in a lovely 2-bedroom / 2-bath cottage, nestled in the breathtaking Icelandic countryside and perfect for exploring the beauty that south Iceland offers. The space has expertly blended the old scandinavian style with modern comforts including a fully equipped kitchen, living area and private terrace with a hot tub. With the proximity being about an hour drive from Reykjavík along the renowned Golden Circle route, which includes Geysir, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir National park, there is so much to see and do! The intimate setting and peaceful surroundings will help you slow down to soak up special moments.
Whale Watching
Embark on a magical boat journey from the old harbour in Reykjavik and head into Faxaflói Bay with an expert crew where you will learn about the local wildlife as you are surrounded by the magnificent landscapes and spectacular views. You will travel to areas where whales are commonly seen, looking for the chance to observe species such as the minke and humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises. Viewing these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat is truly exhilarating!
Glacier Hike
Head out on a small group hiking exploration of Sólheimajökull Glacier in southern Iceland, where an expert guide will take you to find blue ice, crevasses, and amazing ice formations. You will be supplied with a helmet, crampons, and an ice ax, and after a lesson on how to use them to walk safely on the ice, you will take the short walk up to the glacier where you will explore the surreal surroundings carved by streams and waterfalls to create intricate labyrinths and beautiful ridges. This glacier hike is for all levels, so everyone can enjoy the rugged, ever-changing terrain of the glacier while learning about its features. (Available between May and August)
